Wine development stifled by software patent

uk.Builder.com reports that development of the open source Wine project is being hampered by Borland's patent claim over exception handling. Wine (Wine Is Not An Emulator) provides a mechanism for running Windows applications within GNU/Linux, and this nicely illustrates the way software patents harm the development of open source software.
