Why include Wine?

  • Wine is FLOSS, and so this solution is a FLOSS one, even if the Windows package is proprietary. I think Wine deserves a mention because it can make a difference in situations where a Windows package is considered a "must-have". Also, Ed Lea has done a lot of work to test which proprietary educational packages work with Wine, and this is useful knowledge that should be made available.
  • After all, even FLOSS packages require a BIOS and hardware drivers, and precious few of them are FLOSS!
  • if supplies of windows programs get enough calls about problems with Wine then perhaps the native Linux versions will follow. SteveLee

Could convert the tables to Wiki Table syntax as that is a little terser SteveLee
