Becta meeting at Coventry Technocentre, 31st May 2006
A very positive meeting was organised by Becta, with wide representation from the open source community.

Open Source Conference in Sheffield 28th September 2005
Maiaweb are helping to organise an Open Source event in Sheffield from 3:30-7:00pm on Wednesday 28th September 2005, called OSCARS. The Open Source Choices And Resources for Schools conference is aimed at spreading the open source message to schools in the Yorkshire region. Click here for further details and registration form. 2005 FLOSSIE Conference
FLOSSIE 2005 took place on 14th & 15th July at Bolton Technology Innovation Centre (BTIC).

BTIC is a brand new building with a Linux network providing opportunities for hands on experience, as well as a purpose built lecture area and rooms where we can break out from the main talks.
Tickets cost £50 for those representing their organisation, and £35 for individuals.
Becta Meeting
Becta hosted a meeting with representatives of the Open Source community in UK, including several members of Schoolforge-UK, on 14th April at the Cable & Wireless Training Centre in Coventry. See the report of this meeting. The key messages were:
- FLOSS does provide an appropriate infrastructure for schools
- Schools using FLOSS reduced TCO per PC by a substantial percentage
- Support costs - typically 60% of TCO per PC show the biggest reduction
- Becta wish to engage with the Open Source community to broaden the use of FLOSS in schools
Following the meeting it was decided to change the emphasis of this site from campaigning to support - see Schoolforge-UK:Plans for this site.
Special Meeting
A Special Meeting was held at Sun Microsystems' Coventry offices on 24th February.
