Presentations from OSS Watch Building Open Source Communities conference
From Schoolforge-UK
The OSS Watch Building Open Source Communities one-day conference was held in Edinburgh and explored such topics as
- how do open source software projects organise themselves;
- why do some projects grow rapidly;
- how does the licence choice affect the kind of community that develops;
- what is the relationship between developers and end-users;
- how important is leadership;
The presentations have been posted and explore the operational and social structures of successful FLOSS projects including Moodle and Apache. They underline the need to build community with participants who fill differing roles.
