Local Government Looks to Linux

The eGov Monitor has another scoop, this time with the results of a survey by SOCITM (Society of IT Management) which finds that 60% of local authorities expect to make greater use of FLOSS in future, with only 2% expecting a drop. A third of those surveyed already make use of open source applications.

Socitm have had an Open Source special interest group, called SOSS since mid 2003. Mark Taylor of The Open Source Consortium sits on the Group as an independent expert in the field of Open Source.
