FLOSSIE 2005 - 14th & 15th July at Bolton TIC
From Schoolforge-UK
FLOSSIE 2005 will be a two day conference, organised by Schoolforge UK and The Learning Machine, in response to the Becta TCO report that shows how schools and colleges can greatly increase the returns from their IT budget by using Free, Libre and Open Source Software (FLOSS).
The conference is aimed at both technical and financial decision makers who would like to discover what FLOSS can offer their establishments. Find out how some schools have stopped being 'locked in' to a single software supplier, whilst enabling their formerly hard-pressed ICT support staff to continuously expand the services provided.
The conference agenda will be accompanied by an exhibition of FLOSS solutions and hardware designed for education, and there will be opportunities to gain 'hands-on' experience using FLOSS. The agenda will also include the AGM of Schoolforge UK.
To present a paper at the conference, or to exhibit FLOSS products and services designed for education, please contact Ian Lynch (ian at zmsl.com) as soon as possible. In view of the interest generated by the recent Becta TCO report, the limited places are expected to go early so sign up now.
Tickets will be £50 + VAT = £58.75 for those representing their organisation, and £35 + VAT = £41.13 for individuals.
See http://www.schoolforge.org.uk/flossie/conference200507.html for more details and how to register.
